Location of Holiday Apartment Shimla

Entrance to the city from South,for all practical purposes, is famous Sankat Mochan Temple located on NH 22 immediately after crossing Tara Devi. To reach the apartments you are required to follow NH 22 up to junction of NH 22 and Bilaspur – Mandi state highway. The apartments are located approximately at a distance of 2 km from the junction point. Complexes known as Pooja Housing Society and Goyal Apartments are located at the main turning point on the road, hence the name of the area - “Chakkar”. Please refer to the map, Walking distance from the apartments to the starting point of the Mall (HP Legislative Assembly) is 4 km and to Ridge 5 km. Walking from apartments to the Ridge which takes about an hour is, perhaps, the best walk that one can have as  it takes you through the best part of the city.

Shimla (also spelt as 'Simla') derives its name from goddess 'Shayamla Devi', which is another manifestation of Goddess Kali. The capital of Himachal Pradesh came into light when the British discovered it in 1819. Till then, it was a part of the Nepalese kingdom. In 1864 Shimla was declared as the summer capital of India. After Independence, Shimla became the capital of Punjab and was later named the capital of Himachal Pradesh. In 1903 a rail line was constructed between Kalka and Shimla. Shimla is one of the few places in the world where an enormous amount of history and heritage has been distilled into such a small place in so short a time.
