Naukuchiatal or the nine cornered lake is 4km further down Bhimtal. The lake is one of the most beautiful and cleanest too. Naukuchiatal is a large lake. It has a flotilla of boats which are popular with visitors. Legend has it that Naukuchiya tal was created by the adroit Pandava brother Nakul firing an arrow into the earth to from the lake and its spring. Another legend says anyone who can see all nine sides of the lake at one time will be blessed with great good fortune. Parasailing facilities are available nearby but must make sure of the credentials of the group offering it along with safety measures and arrangements in case of an emergency.
