The Cottages are set amidst verdant, idyllic and serene surroundings. There are 5 independent cottages. Three smaller cottages consist of a double bedroom, an attached bath, a kitchenette and a small glazed verandah overlooking the forest. Two bigger cottages consist of a bigger double bedroom area, an attached bath, a kitchenette and a glazed verandah at a split level. Simple and wholesome meals and snacks are available on order. There is a wide variety of multi cuisine restaurants and bakeries in McLeodganj. The most popular being Mc'Llo Restaurant, The Chocolate Log, Ashoka Restaurant, Jimmy's Italian Kitchen, Pema Thang, Pizzaria and The Namgyal cafe.A doctor is available on call if required. Wi-fi Internet access is available. Taxis are available on call as well. Local sightseeing, trekking, pony rides can be arranged.
PACKAGES FOR THE WHOLE COTTAGE
The tariff for a large cottage is Rs.5400-00 per night for two persons. The tariff for a small cottage is Rs.4300-00 per night for two persons.
There is a 10% Luxury Tax on the tariff.
The Service Tax is 5.15%..The charge for an extra person is 25% of the tariff.
The above mentioned tariff is on an EP ( accommodation only ) basis.
Meals are extra.
The reservation is confirmed only on receipt of full payment and is done on a first come first served basis.
There are lovely tranquil walks and treks through the woods to Dharamkot, Triund, Guna Devi, Naddi, The Church of St. John In The Wilderness, Bhagsunag and Kareri. and on to the mountains. It is also possible to arrange camping and overnight treks to the higher ranges with guides from the Mountaineering Institute. Pony rides are also available. The Palace of His Holiness The Dalai Lama and the " Tsuglag Khang " Main Temple with huge idols of the Padmasambhava and Avaloketshwara deities are at a distance of one and a half kilometers from the cottages.
It is possible to have a glimpse at the Tibetan culture by visiting the quaint market, the handicrafts center at the Norbulingka Institue, the library archives and the monasteries around Dharamshala. Located close to Forsythganj is the Church of St. John In The Wilderness with Belgian stained glass windows. It is one of the oldest structures in town built in 1852. There is an impressive memorial of the Viceroy of India, Lord Elgin.
HOW TO REACH DHARAMSHALA :-
1. BY AIR : There are regular flights from Delhi to Kangra Airport by Kingfisher. It is a forty five minute drive to Glenmoor Cottages. There are also flights to Pathankot at a distance of 100 kilometers and Jammu at a distance of 190 kilometers. It is a four hours drive to Glenmoor.
2. BY RAIL : Pathankot railway junction is well connected by trains from all over India. It is one hundred kilometers and the driving time is two and a half hours to Glenmoor Cottages. One may also take a train to Amritsar at a distance of 190 kilometers and it four hours drive to Glenmoor. The railway station at Una is at a distance of 130 kilometers and a three and a half hours drive to Glenmoor.
3. BY ROAD : A network of highways connects Dharamshala to Chandigarh, Delhi, Shimla and Jammu. There are private as well as Government buses from all cities to Dharamshala. A new air conditioned bus service between Dharamshala and New Delhi has been started by the Himachal Road Transport Corporation. From McLeodganj: From the Town square ( In front of Nowrojee's Store / Opp. Mc'llo restaurant ) please take the road towards the Office of the Taxi Union / The Tibetan Childrens Village and the Dal Lake. Drive for 500 meters and to the right there is a road leading uphill towards Glenmoor Cottages.
